Some ASX files don't open

Postby alitokmen » 06 Feb 2009 08:12

Hello

The new version of VLC, 0.9.8a, doesn't open some ASX files.

I'm attaching one of the files. What's expected when I open that file is VLC to start playing the media. That's what used to happen in VLC 0.8. That's also what happens in Windows Media Player.

In VLC 0.9, nothing happens.

Is this normal?

---

Attachments don't exist, here's the file's contents:

Code: Select all

<ASX version = "3.0"> <entry clientskip="no" skipifref="no"> <Ref href = "mms://skinkers-livestation-client-f3c2-euronews-en.wm.llnwd.net/skinkers_livestation_client_f3c2_euronews_en"/> </entry> </asx>

Well, deactivate the skip-ad option in the preferences=>input=>demux=>playlist

Hello

Unsetting the "Skip ads" option in the Playlist preferences solved the problem.

Thank you for your help :)

Well, deactivate the skip-ad option in the preferences=>input=>demux=>playlist
This option is enabled by default whilst it should be disabled because it's blocking many streams from working properly.

Same goes for the 'Skip DVD menu' option.

Out of the box VLC should be set to use settings which allow the best compatibility and the default basic behaviour expected by a media player.
Then the user may apply some options. That's even the meaning of options, they are optionnal and shouldn't be forced to a non standard default setting.
