To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

Just in case you do not know how to do that echelongr you can set vlc verbosity to 2 by typing

Code: Select all

vlc --verbose 2

Or which I think is the same just do -vvv or to make things colorful!

Code: Select all

vlc --color -vvv
Anywho also more detailed info about you system version is nice just do a

Code: Select all

uname -a
Once you got that info posted on this forum some super smart guru will endow his god like knowledge to you in hopes you might understand the wisdom imparted to you enough to fix the problem. Or some random guy will give off some stupid suggestion and lead you into an abyss of endless torment. I love forums.

I am also having a "vlc not running" problem. After several rounds of possibly making it worse, I gave up at the point detailed below
