Error messages, single frame FF/Rew...

Error messages, single frame FF/Rew...

Postby MikeBell » 03 Jan 2004 16:20

I have 2 questions...

1) Is it possible to disable error messages? When I'm doing something CPU intensive under OSX, I get an error message window saying that ffmpegf is skipping frames (5 seconds something...). That message is annoying and I have to click dismiss. Is there a way to redirect those messages to Message window? It's really annoying... Also, sometimes, when I FF/Rev an XviD OGM movies, I get this error message: "main: picture 0x21a2750 refcount is -1" Any idea what that is? In any case, I'd like to get rid of these annoying error message windows.

2) Is there a way to step through the movie frame by frame? I have some instructional videos and I'd like to pause and step frame by frame.

Thanks!

1) I guess you have to do something quite heavy to get the 5 sec message. The other message is a bug. and should be looked into.

2) Not yet, but this is a known wanted feature

I get 5 sec message on my 800 TiBook quite often when I run BitTorrent (I use a Java client) which is sometimes CPU/HD intensive. Second message I get when I play certain OGM (XviD/OGG) files and I FF or Rev. In any case, it'd be nice to have an option to completely ignore those messages and just redirect them to a different window/file.

Thanks for a reply!

I'll add a 'quiet' mode in the next release in which these messages will no longer be showed. (Beware it will NEVER show error messages in that mode)
Don't use PMs for support questions.
