Fullscreen Mode

Postby xfile102 » 12 Jan 2009 21:58

I have used VLC for years, and LOVE it. But I recently re-installed Windows XP x64 Edition. I use an Extended Desktop mode across my TV from My Monitor via a S-Video Cable. Suddenly though, after the Windows Reinstall, Whenever I move the Video Window over to my TV and double Click it trying to make it go full screen, it automatically reverts back to the LCD monitor in Full Screen. It used to simply play Full Screen on my TV. I have no idea what is causing this problem. I have already double checked my Video Card settings for my card, a Radeon HD 3850. It is set up properly, as I tested Windows Media Player and it worked perfectly. Only VLC behaves this way.

I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi

I have exactly the same problem. I also use an Extended Desktop mode and Windows XP, but only the x32 Edition and the video card is an old Radeon 9800 Pro. I mention that earlier earlier versions of VLC 0.9.8a didn't have this problem.

Thanks for your efforts.

It is a known bug (for 0.9.8a). It will fixed in next 0.9.9 release.

I have tried 0.9.9 and 1.0 builds, from scratch and all of them have this same issue for me. Is this still being worked on?

Yes, I did. I then did another completely clean install and this time 0.9.9 worked on the secondary monitor, but I did notice it is using Direct3D for the video. Is there a reason for this and what causes 1.0 to not work again?

You use some other video output module than Direct3D?
The same patch was applied to both trees so it should work on both.

Great, this bug no longer exists in VLC 0.9.9 :D
