Do you guys recommend any codec pack/filters for Vista?
I play mostly Xvid (avi) movies.

VLC plays those formats, and it should be working on Vista.
CloudStalker has heard not so nice things about codec packs, they can change the way existing codecs function on one's computer and can sometimes be difficult to remove.
