Autocue Function?

I'd love to be able to use VLC to play the backing tracks for songs we play in my band.

What I want to be able to do is have all the tracks in a playlist in order, and then have each one play when we hit a hotkey (like spacebar) and then play all the way through and then move to the next track in the playlist without starting to play it, much like the 'autocue' function on many professional CDJ players.

Is this possible? I've managed to set VLC to play using 'spacebar' as a hotkey, and also found a setting that will 'play and stop' each track in the playlist without moving onto the next one automatically, but this mode doesn't 'cue' up the next track, meaning lots of fumbling with a trackpad and squinting at a screen mid-song.

Any ideas?
