VLC, Pulsaudio and 5.1

Postby Rawbin » 13 Nov 2008 16:14

Hi there,

I'm having some problems getting 5.1 audio to work with pulseaudio output in VLC 0.9.4.

I'm using files from http://www.lynnemusic.com/surround.html, and kaffeine plays them correctly. PulseAudio Volume Control also shows that kaffeine outputs a 5.1 stream (and i can control each of them individually), while vlc only plays a stereo stream no matter what input file (or even DVD) is used.
(left and right channels are mapped correctly though, center stream is play on both FR and FL)

Using the command:

Code: Select all

vlc --aout alsa --alsadev surround51
i can get vlc to play the files and dvd correctly

I'm using ubuntu 8.10, vlc 0.9.4 and pulse audio 0.9.10

Regards,
Robin
