FreeBSD: stream from capture card

Is it possible to stream form a capture card with FreeBSD like it is with Linux and the v4l driver. Is there anything appropriate to the v4l in FreeBSD which can be used?

freebsd has it's own drivers with it's own api for capture cards. VLC do not have the necessary code to access this. Implementing it should be quite easy though.

Easy..if
1: someone runs bsd
2: has a capture card
3: knows how to code
4: is willing to spend time on that.

When we find him, we will welcome him with open arms.
