Converting a Real audio file

Postby devra » 06 Nov 2008 14:39

Hello, I am new to VLC and am not a computer buff, so I have got into a mess, please help.I have a new computer, XP3. I had some Real audio files which would not play on VLC. I just got a big stutter then pause then another big stutter. So I thought, like an idiot, I could use the Convert facility which I thought might convert said files to ones that could be read and played through VLC.Actually I didn't understand how to use the Convert facility. I did look up the documentation etc. but it's not written for clueless people like me.
I thought I'd asked for a .wav file to be made. I don't know what actuIly happened, but I had a file on my desk top which still wouldn't play through VLC. It had exactly the same 'stutter' problem. What is really problematic, since I can still play the files using Real player, is that when I opened VLC for another purpose, it played the stutter and now I haven't a clue how to stop the whole mess. If I can't easily (remember I'm clueless) I will simply uninstall VLC, which would be a pity. Thanks for any help.
