Bizarre picture when playing DVDs

Postby gfunkdave » 02 Nov 2008 00:50

I searched around and couldn't find anything that seemed to fit what I'm seeing. When I play any DVD, I get a crazy picture where blocks of the picture get crazy colors and symbols in them, but the rest of the picture seems OK. From time to time, it'll play properly for a second or two, but that's it.

I've updated my video driver (before that, I couldn't even play DVDs), reduced resolution and color depth (now at 1024x768, 32 bit, the max), and tried going through each video output device in the list. My hardware should be perfectly capable of playing DVDs...I have a Thinkpad T60 and I'm running XP SP3.

Any ideas? I feel this should be something pretty simple...

To illustrate what I'm talking about, check out this screen grab from VLC:

Have you tried changing the video output module:

Thanks, I went through all the options before.

I also disabled the overlay option...no luck.
