Firefox and IE Plugin of 0.9.4 does not work either!!

Postby schnorginator » 16 Oct 2008 13:17

Hello,

all released versions since 0.9.2 came with non-working browser plugins. In 0.9.4 this is even less understadable since there was a 0.9.3 nightly build that worked fine and had the bug fixed!

I have strongly tried to push VLC as primary plugin for a big company project here in favor of some proprietary ActiveX-only solution but since the beta testers here are now calling in by the dozen because their working 0.9.3 version has updated itself to non-working 0.9.4 the PM has now decided to go with the proprietary solution.

This has been a really poor performance. There were reports in the forum and in the BTS. It even had been fixed (in 0.9.3), it seems. But apparently nothing helped.

Find more details in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=50173

This really looks like VLC has some way to go before being usable in production systems. Sorry to have to say this.

Hi,

For some days I was trying to make VLC 0.9.4 plugin work with Firefox 3.0.3 without success (with windows XP SP2).
Then after some researches in google, I made 3 changes:
- copy c:\program files\VideoLAN\VLC\npvlc.dll in c:\program files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins
- add the Videolan folder path c:\program files\videolan\vlc to the Path system variable
- delete c:\program files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\Microsoft.VC80.CRT\msvcr80.dll

And then, Eureka, it works fine for me !

Hi
Patrick22, are you sure all the changes are necessary?
As for me adding to PATH variable was enough.
