Is VideoLan the solution I seek?

Postby sandi » 25 Nov 2003 09:42

Dear members!

I am looking for a solution to capture 2 different video/audio sources and stream it over ADSL to another computer which have to play that stream and send it to video card so that I can capture it with shvs or composite out.

I would like to use Linux or ?BSD on both sides.
Can someone point me if I am on the right way or propose something else.

Best regards!

Hello,

Unfortunately, the VideoLAN solution is currently unable to read from two different sources at the same time and mix them.

However, this feature is on our todo list..

Thank's for your answer.
Well let me be more specific. I don't want to mix them I wan't two streams simultaneously from within two video and avdio sources and then stream the in a VHS quality to other end of network where I want to capture the again to video cards. Basicly I want just encode-stream(transfer)-decode.
I currently need only one source but I know that in near future will be need for two sources.
That videolan is capable correct?

Best regards!

Sandi

That should be ok (depending of your ADSL bandwidth), a long as you don't want any precise syncronisation between the 2 independant streams
