vlc as iptv recorder

Postby kihc » 24 Sep 2008 20:06

Hello!

I need some help, with setting-up an VLC-player as an video recorder for iptv stream.

There is a sketch of my situation.

The PC in the middle with Ubuntu 8.04 is configured as bridge, all the traffic between my ISP's modem and STB is going through it. Now I would like to "listen" (capture/view) that stream on that "PC-in-the-middle" also (while the stb is active -- TV is on), but I don't know how to configure VLC.

I see all the iptv trafic with Wireshark on eth0, but VLC doesnt bring me any picture while in bridge mode. But when the PC is not in bridge mode (there is just modem connected to PC and no bridging enabled), everything works fine!

Is it possible to configure the VLC that it will work while the PC is in bridge mode? Or is this a problem of OS? If the Wireshark is seeing al the packets, why the VLC cant?

I will be greatful for any answers!
