Stream to WMP, no sound (Debian unstable), vlc questions

Postby woj » 13 Oct 2004 16:57

Hi!

1. I am testing vlc streaming - in my opinion it is very usefull project.
I want use it to multicast. Can anybody tell me if is possibility to stream multicast with vlc and receive it not only by VLC, but by some other player/client.
For example - I don't want people in LAN to start using multicast functions of VLC, I want them only to listen...

2. Another question: How about playlist function in command line? I am using VLC on Debian server with ssh only, for example can I play files from some directory or file-list?

3. When I'm testing unicast stream to WMP (with VLC 0.8.0-test1) - everything is ok, but there is no sound.
In version 0.7.2 with the same file, the same options - everything is ok. I tested many codecs, nothing helps.
I tried to compile version test2 -
./configure --with-ffmpeg-tree=
make
no errors, there is binary file, but when I'm trying to stream there is always an error:
"main stream output error: stream chained failed for:"
"main input error: cannot start stream output instance, aborting"

and so on... So i gave up compilling, and started to ask VLC gurus

thank you for help, I was looking in archive of this forum, I didn't find the answers.
