Picking one Channel out of a Multicast

Postby jasonberresford » 17 Jul 2008 21:41

Hello everyone .... This may seem like a basic question .. I am new to this ..

Currently I am getting Multicast streams from our Cherrypickers.. The only problem is that if I stream the multicast video, when I open it up in VLC I get all 12 Video Feeds out of the stream.

Basic Diagram:

CherryPicker > <Multicast Stream> > Linux Server over GigE (Running VLC From command line) > Output to External System .. .

The external system can not get direct access to the cherrypicker as its on a private GigE, so the linux server is multihomed.

( Just incase you don't know what a cherrypicker is :

Motorola's CherryPicker® Application Suites provide programmable MPEG video processing platforms that maximize return on investment in digital video delivery systems while providing room for future revenue generating capabilities.

)

I need to pick out the mpeg streams out of the Multicast before forwarding them off ...

I guess in Short: How do you select just one video stream from a multicast ?

Note: I'm using VLM as a gui, as its the only one I can use (on a linux box without any GUI). I don't mind doing it via config file, but I can figure that part out once I get it working with VLM..

If this doesn't make any sence, just let me know.

I managed to figure this out ...

Example:

new Stream1 broadcast enabled
setup Stream1 input "udp://@225.100.xxx.x:9053"
setup Stream1 output #duplicate{dst=mosaic-bridge{id=Stream1,width=226,height=142},select=video,dst=bridge-out{id=0},select=audio}
setup Stream1 option programs=3

I have another problem however, which I will post in another topic ..

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
