Export from VLC? (Nothing else will decode my mpeg)

Postby patniemeyer » 26 Dec 2003 16:43

I have an mpeg from a replaytv that nothing else will decode properly... I've been through several replay related tools (off topic) but I notice that VLC plays the mpeg just fine.

My goal is to be able to edit the mpeg in Premiere Pro on win. Is there any way I can use the VLC codec to decompress the video for export? Or perhaps the streaming server to serve frames to Premiere?

BTW, VLC is simply the best video player out there.

Thanks,
Pat Niemeyer

Hello,

VLC can be used to transcode your stream. Please read the VideoLAN Howto (http://www.videolan.org/doc/videolan-howto) for help on how to do this.

However, VLC is probably not the best software for this use. You should give a try to VirtualDub, that could be better for you

Maybe just remuxing the file to MPEG PS would do the trick.
(Have a look at the "stream output" dialog)
