0.8.6e: cracking sound with music DVD

I am using VLC 0.8.6e for Linux x86_64 with SuSE 10.3. My integrated sound board is intel-hda.

Today I noticed while listening to a music DVD a cracking noise in my speakers. So first I exchanged the speakers but it remained same. I rebooted the system but it was still the same. Then I took another music DVD but the result was still the same.

Then I listened to an mp3 music file with Banshee and this was OK. So I tried the music DVD with the Totem player and it was also OK.

This sounds funny. But has anybody a similar experience?
