VLC and Multicast MPEG4 H.264 SAPs

I did a search and did not find anything...I'd like to get more info on the below, if possible:
We are waiting for a Visionary Solutions AVN420 H.264 encoder

We want to use it to multicast on Internet2, and have it generate SAPs that VLC clients (Mac and Win) can detect.
However, the company has told me that they discovered, while trying to implement SAP support for this product, that the latest versions of VLC have problems with H.264 SAP support, and that clients should downgrade if this is required. I assume they mean 0.8.6 as the latest release version.

Anyone have more info, or can direct me, on the issue of MPEG4 H.264 SAP support in VLC clients?
