No Scrubbing Quicktime Streamed Movies........Nooooo

Postby Dougfatheruk » 29 Jan 2008 17:31

Hi all, i'm in the process of setting up a helix server and the content is Quicktime based.

To stream Quicktime i just link to the movie from the .mov reference file (Contains RTSP link to streaming server) that you create when streaming any Quicktime file from a streaming server, the problem is that Quicktime playback quality is less than satisfactory, however playback in VLC is perfect.

The problem is that when a stream is taking place VLC will not allow you to scrub to anywhere else in the timeline. It justs jumps back and causes a glitch. If i could get the scrubbing to work then it would mega, if not then VLC is pretty much useless for streaming Quicktimes. I am streaming the movies using the rtsp protocol. Is there anything i'm doing wrong or any reason why i cannot scrub the file as we can in Quicktime?

I've tried on XP and OSX and no joy.

Cheers
