Mozilla / Firefox plugin missing from 0.8.6c ?

i've gotten it from 2 different mirrors, but it does not include the folder with the mozilla files. any help would be great, or a link to them. thanks in advance.

i got it from the zipped file, but it's still missing from the exe.

If you type in:

about:plugins

Into your Firefox Address bar then "VLC Multimedia Plugin" should be in the list if it is installed. As far as I know the mozilla-plugin-vlc doesn't come with the *.zip version (just contains the required files for VLC). If it is not in the plugins list, reinstall the NSIS version (*.exe) again, and ensure "Mozilla plugin" is ticked when on the "Choose Components" page of the wizard installer. You will need to re-start Firefox after VLC's installation too. Then try "about:plugins" again.

If it is still not then try restarting you PC then try again.

I can confirm that the Windows binary included the Firefox plugin. I ugpraded to 0.8.6c a few hours ago and "VLC Multimedia Plugin" is listed in Firefox. However I never managed to make the embedded player to work, see the Testing the VLC media player Mozilla/Firefox plugin topic.

Just put the location of a file in the MRL box and press "Go". It should playback without a problem(?). If it doesn't then what happens?

Thanks for the link even if I thought Firefox was about to crash, it froze for a few seconds. I get a black player with "(no video)" written in white at the center. Have you checked out my Testing the VLC media player Mozilla/Firefox plugin topic ?

Thanks for the explaination, it worked like a charm ! However I don't understand why we have to pass the video URL as a MRL parameter, doesn't the player handle the "data" attribute from the "object" element ?

Well - MRL (Media Resource Locator) is a syntac that VLC uses which can be used for a wide range of actions which VLC can perform. The simple file location/url is just a basic use of it. You could, for example, put:

To enable screens capture or:

dvd://e:

Which would view a DVD-Video (in the E:\ drive).
