(bug) vlc doesnt inhibit Gnome from sleeping while playing a

Postby jackflap » 20 Oct 2007 19:31

Hi,

I tried to submit a bug to the trac, but I couldn't actually find anywhere to click 'New ticket', I don't know, maybe I was being silly, but here it is:

I'm running a default Ubuntu 7.10 (Gnome) installation with VLC 0.8.6c installed through the package manager.

The problem is, when playing audio through VLC, it doesn't inhibit Gnome from suspending/hibernating. According to the Gnome docs, the player should call a dbus method when playing starts so that the computer doesn't sleep due to inactivity. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GnomePowerManagerInactiveSleep for more info.

VLC does work correctly when playing video, however, this fix hasn't been implemented when playing audio.

Does this need to be inserted into the trac in order to be resolved? How do I go about this?

Alex

i will take care about that bug.

tickets creation and modification has been disabled for non validated accounts, that's written on the trac main page.

for validation you have to come on the irc channel #videolan on freenode.net and ask for it.

That's now present in the development version since http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/changeset/22738
