VLC Streaming cuts out after 15 seconds

I am very new to VLC and streaming but have set up an OpenSUSe 10.2 server to stream an .avi file to my XP desktop.

The problem is that it initially works fine by opening a capture device and selecting HTTP then adding the IP address plus port 8080, however this only works for 15 seconds then the local media player stops.

that means you reached the END of whatever you are playing

Unfortunately that wasn't the case, the server was still streaming the AVI which was only half through.

In the end i stopped the client VLC and reset it. Once i restarted it all seems to be running fine so far.

I'm having this problem too. After 3 seconds It stops streaming to file

I have the same problem too. it sreams for around 20 seconds and then stops.

machine: windows XP, 10MBit connection

any ideas?
