VLC + video capture

Okay, this might be a rather simple question, but.

I'm using VLC with an ATI TV Wonder Pro, to connect video game consoles to my monitor. The only problem I'm having is that there's a delay of a few seconds between me pushing a button on the console, and the video showing the appropriate action. I'd like to know if there's a way to minimize this delay.

Same problem here, in other programs it works fine why not in VLC?
