Displaying Images in a playlist XSPF

I'm trying to find a way to add images to a playlist with duration setting. for example after a video plays I want an image to play for let's say 30 seconds, then start the next item in the playlist. I was going to use XSPF as my playlist format but if it's not the best option please let me know.
