Streaming...Using the Browser as a client..is that possible?

Instead of having to get VLC installed on the machine that will recieve the streamed media on a network, is there a way of using a browser as the interface instead?

If not, i will appreciate it if you can point me to any media streaming server that is web based. i.e. uses the a browser as the client interface

Yes you can, you can create a VLC plugin page for Internet explorer or Mozilla. Problem is when you go to the page it asks you to install the activex controls it needs. So if the client doesnt have download abilities then it wont work. But as i have done in the past i just pushed the VLC install across the network and remove all shortcuts to it. and use the browser to play everything that the users need to play.

This shows a IE Based activex page which can open Network Streamed Media or Local media. There is a demo example a few scrolls down.
