Hi, I'm running VLC Media Player 0.8.6a on Windows 2000 Pro. I'm trying to understand how the skins work so I tried to change an existing skin. All I wanted to do was change one of the images. Here's what I did:
- Downloaded solar.vlt skin
To make sure it worked I:
- Put it in c:\program files\videolan\vlc\skins
- started up vlc
- under preferences > interface > main interfaces , i changed the interface module drop-down menu to 'skinnable interface'.
- under main interfaces > skins , with advanced options, i changed the 'skin to use' to c:\program files\videolan\vlc\skins\solar.vlt
- on vlc player i click setting > switch interface > skin 2
- it worked yay
To change it I:
- made a copy of the file
- changed it to solar.tar.gz
- unarchived it using 7zip
- opened up forward.png in gimp
- using gimp, i changed the color of the button
- saved it
- used 7zip to archive the folder into solar.tar.gz
- changed it to solar.vlt
- replaced the original solar.vlt
Now when I tried it, it wouldn't work and would go back to loading default.vlt, which was the GGGrey skin. I tried changing solar.vlt (the one i changed) to default.vlt, but then when i switch VLC to use 'skin 2' it displays a prompt to choose a skin file.
I made sure to turn off 'hide known file extensions' in folder options, so it is a .vlt file. Hmm... Any help?
Thanks,
Kaz
