Scrambled DVB channels with VideoLAN server

Postby pscaffardi » 17 Jun 2004 11:20

We are working on this goal: streaming more DVB channels from a PC to a network of STB/PC clients using VideoLAN (both free-to-air and encrypted).

Our problem - as you imagine - is streaming scrambled channels, that is not currently supported by VideoLan.

Working exaples to open scrambled channels can be taken looking at libdvb-0.5.4 (cam_set and cam_test utilities) or vdr. The CI/CAM handling should be integrated into VideoLan server.

Anyone working on that? Am i the only one needing that?

I am also looking into this and haven't found a solution yet.

Would you be so kind and share your findings with me if you happen to make it work ?

My email is velshome at yahoo dot com

Many thanks

BTW

Which STBs are you looking at and what streaming formats do you plan to use (multicast, MPEG2 TS) ?
