no video in ubuntu VLC 0.8.6

I'm not getting any video in VLC 0.8.6. I am using XGL could that be causing a problem? If so how do i disable it?? :S :oops:

similar issue on Ubuntu, only audio but no video

hi,
i got a similar issue on Ubuntu/VLC 0.8.6, only audio but no video
debug msg says " no suitable decoder module for fourcc `VP62'. same file (.nsv) works for windows and osx versions


any ideas?

yes.
Well, ubuntu version of VLC is a 0.8.6 from the SVN and not the final version, so this has a lot of problems.
This explains the VP62 problem.
About XGL, you need to change your Video Output module in the advanced preferences.
