Video Skipping Problem

Postby andrewmgray » 28 Dec 2006 04:52

When watching video in VLC I will encounter a 2-3 second skip about every 2-4 minutes. The higher the bandwidth the video is the more often the skip occurs. This happens with practically every type of video (avi divx xvid...).

The other video players (MPC WMV) have no trouble skipping (so I use them for everything except Google Video files which I use VLC for).

My specs are

VLC 0.86
Windows 2000
Athlon 600 MHZ
192 MB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 4 FX5200 Ultra 128mb

Processes Running:
Openoffice Quickstarter
Logmein
Gaim
Nvidia Graphics Thingy
Default Windows Services

I usually have about 32 mb ram to play with with everything running.

Short of getting a faster processor or buying a new computer is there anyway to make VLC stop skipping?

NO. Buy more memory and a faster processor or revert to windows 9x
