Screen Saver dead when VLC open =[

Postby iced » 04 Nov 2006 09:51

Ok so on my lunch break at work Ican watch a movie with VLC media player 0.8.5. If I get paged for an emergency I pause the movie, I came back 5 hours later with my screen still on nice and bright.

Now I have my screen saver come on and turn on a password for a good reason, so someone wont have access to cooporate accounting files. so this really upset me when it happend because my supervisor said I couldget fired for it but he will just warn me for now since no one else was working in my area but him and he was watching my pc the entire time.

yes its a good thing when VLC disables the screen saver when watching a movie, but it is not cool when the movie is paused and it wont turn on.. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? for now I have to remember to actually manually lock my work station, or use Win media player that is much harder to use for arbitrary media files, need codecs and stuff and i would need admin permissions to install them. I'm on XP PRO

any help to resolve this please thanks

Hit on you keyboard: win_key+L
and you wont need a password on screen saver.

win_key is ussualy located between Ctrl and Alt (down left side)

is there a hot key to turn the screen saver on? because theres nothing that will run to save the screen. so i still have to close the movie anyways. maintenance doesnt want me shutting the monitor off everytime i leave my workstation lol
