Hi, I'm using VLC as a network streamer. I've collected some content and have tested streaming but my network is getting way too much traffic. Some videos halt and other network requests (such as http) take a long time or sometimes do not reach their destination. The problem might be network design, stream type or video bitrate. I don't think I can upgrade my network yet, so I'll focus on the other two. I know a multicast is more efficient than several unicasts, but how does one use multicast in a VoD situation? Video bitrate might also be too high on the content I've collected. I'm not too familiar with this topic but I believe all videos get a minimum, average and maximum bitrate setting when they are encoded. Can anyone recommend values for encoding settings for several VoD streams (how do large digital signage solutions work) ?
Thanks in advance
