That's an easy one: you can't delete QuickTime. That's impossible (or if you still manage to do so, you'll get a really unstable OSX).
It's really built into OSX, so you won't see any images in most apps anymore, not talking about manipulating them. Preview for example, is completely useless without QT. It won't show anything and so will do almost all apps (except for GraphicConverter, GoogleEarth and some other exotes perhaps).
Additionally, that circumvention layer is probably (at least in parts) even more down in Darwin, I'd guess.
