Embedded subtitles

Postby fpetit » 17 Aug 2006 03:20

Hello,
I have a few .AVI files (DivX and XviD) with embedded subtitles. VLC seems to detect the streams, but when I enable the subtitles from the VIDEO menu, nothing happens.-

I believe VLC doesn't support embedded subtitles within avi containers or at least certain types . I could be wrong.

Have never run across embedded subs in an AVI container outside of DivX 6 subs that are not supported.

I recently came across a set of AVI files which I am assured have embedded english subtitles. I prefer watching Anime in Japanese... I feel it is better. 8)

Do you have any suggestions for me? I have tried everything I know of to get the subtitles to work, but, thus far, have been unable to do so. There is a little message at the beginning that says GAB2 if I turn on the subtitles, but nothing further.
There is no emotion; there is peace || There is no ignorance; there is knowledge || There is no passion; there is serenity || There is no death; there is the Force

Peace is a lie, there is only passion || Through passion I gain strength || Through strength I gain power || Though power I gain victory || In victory, my chains are broken || The Force will free me
