mkv

I'm trying to play an anime with an mkv file but nothing happens when I open the file. Like it has the file location at the bottom but it doesnt play. After reading the other closely related posts, I'm not expecting it to be fixed, but I hope I'm wrong. I've got the latest vlc player by the way and I'm not sure if there are any codecs I could install to fix it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Can you upload a sample some where?
What audio/video codec is used in the file?
May be it will help if you remux the file with mkvmerge(gui).

It doesnt work for me, but it might for you. You need to download the matroska pack. That is supposed to have the codecs for MKV files. hope you have better luck then me

lol, actually I am sorry, I thought I Was on the windows media player forums (somewhat drunk) anyways, vlc doesnt use codecs and there seems to be no fix for it.
