Half the subtitles aren't displayed

Hi,
Some subtitle lines from the srt file aren't displayed. Almost half of them aren't displayed. I know it doesn't come from the srt file since I know someone who didn't have any problem with vlc and the same file.
Must be some kind of settings.

What language are you subtitles in ?

Try changing "Subtitles text encoding" in the preferences (Input/Codecs->Other codecs->Subtitles) to iso 8859 9

yes indeed, my subs are in French and with the right ISO set it works fine
