VLC seems do not work with AXIS 205 netcam stream... :( HELP

Postby STOPBUG » 01 May 2004 09:54

Hello,
Here my problem in english (The DJ :) ). I hope you will understand me because my english is only moderate.
It is possible to read AXIS 205 MJPEG stream with VLC?
After all the tests I done, it seems to be impossible and I don't understand why. Perhaps will you get an idea for me?
The 0.7.2 test1 and test2 release doesn't work too with my netcam stream.

PLEASE HELP me! :)

If you wand to try the stream here the url:
http://stopbug649942.dyndns.org/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi
I know this netcam has an http serve allowing to view the video ( http://stopbug649942.dyndns.org/ )but I would prefer to use VLC to be able to record some small video sequences from a Linux redhat http serveur (then serv them...)

Here the message log:

Is there any way to read this video streaming with VLC?

Postby STOPBUG » 04 May 2004 16:14

I tried it on windows xp and it is not working... Do you think it is the same on LINUX red hat? I think yes but if someone could try it...
Perhaps is there some parameters to change in my configuration?

Please can someone help me!?!

Thanks!

Hope to read you soon... :)

It's just not supported atm.

The camera probably sends JPEG files to VLC. VLC cannot understand JPEG files.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

Do you think VLC project plan to support JPEG files?

Hello The DJ
First of all, thanks for your answer.

Now the question is... Do you think VLC project plan to support JPEG files?

If not, does someone know a program allowing to view JPEG stream?

Hope to read you soon.

Siemens might be willing to pay for

Postby eitzenbe » 13 Oct 2004 22:52

Hi !

We might be willing to pay for this feature (supporting JPG images as sent out by the AXIS cams)

The only precondition is that it needs to be supported not only for streaming but also for transcoding.

We have a customer with two sets of cams

Set A is older axis cams delivering MJPEG
Set B is newer cams with MPG4 encoding

Now we would like to set up vlc as proxy between the cams and the internet streaming server so that we are able to provide both formats (MJPEG and MPG4) for all cams (A+B)

Please anyone feel free to contact me on that issue as this is quite timely critical (need to be in productive env till december)

0.8.0 (due out real soon know) will be able to do this. the -test2 release should allready have these features.
