Playing UDP Multicast streams does not work on Mac OS X

Postby Guest » 16 Jun 2006 23:52

Hi everyone!

I have been trying to play UDP Multicast streams in VLC for Mac OS X, but it does not work. Below you can see the message I got every time I try to watch any IP TV:

$ VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC udp://@233.81.233.201:5000

2006-06-16 23:49:02.636 VLC[347] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1103 (0x44f), port = 0x4d03, name = 'org.videolan.vlc.ServiceProvider'
See /usr/include/servers/bootstrap_defs.h for the error codes.
2006-06-16 23:49:02.644 VLC[347] CFLog (99): CFMessagePortCreateLocal(): failed to name Mach port (org.videolan.vlc.ServiceProvider)
[00000510] main private error: cannot pre fill buffer
[00000514] main private error: cannot pre fill buffer
[00000511] main input error: refcount is -1, delaying again (id=511,type=-7)
[00000511] main input error: waited too long, cancelling destruction (id=511,type=-7)
[00000502] main playlist: stopping playback

Why am I getting these messages?

Any help is welcome!

VLC plays UDP multicast streams just fine. This error is seen when no stream is present on the IP you specify.

Perhaps your router doesn't route multicast?

George
