VLC won't play anything anymore

Postby Meatwad » 27 Apr 2006 17:49

Hello VLC just stopped working for me today. It won't play any audio or video files. I believe someone may have updated Windows Media Player on my computer (it is a family computer, so I'm not the only user) could this have something to do with it? When I try to open a file it just does nothing. Thanks.

try reseting your preferences. If that still doesn't work please provide debug messages from the messages window.

And sometime reboot helps to solve some problems with VLC. I don't know how it depends on it, but onetime VLC began to work correctly only after reboot.

There have been a few reports that VLC is not functioning when Windows has been up for 30 days. Placing the machine in hibernation does not clear or detract from the total up time. However this is a known problem with Windows and VLC is not the only program effected. Reboot the machine!

Postby leon » 19 Dec 2006 08:57

In Suse 10.1 on a laptop, I noted that waking up from hibernation, vlc gives no more picture but sound OK.
Right but more strange now
If you launch in parallel a second vlc sesion its works great I mean sound and picture
Doing it one more time session parallel 3 has no picture
Session 4 has picture......
Looks like a bug............
any idea ? or explanation ?
