Video Capture

I have looked around and couldn't find anything about this. Is there anyway to capture video output.. say to make animated gif's?
If it cant be done with video LAN what other players can do it?

I tried BS player but the video is choopy.

Do you mean capture video being played off of a VCR or camera?

Not sure what you're talking about, concerning animated GIFs -- I don't think I've ever seen one that was made from actual video.
