Pan/Tilt/Zoom Camera Control

Has any work been done pertaining to control of an external pan/tilt/zoom camera, either via USB or RS-232?

I'm envisioning something akin to:

No such work has not been done. And to be honest, it's not something that i think should go into the mainstream VLC either. It's a little bit too specific. But it can still be made an optional part of course.
