What's the hotkey for changing audio stream?

Postby andyvesel » 04 Oct 2024 22:31

Am I blind or completely missing it? On linux it was always "b" hotkey. I installed VLC on Mac and can't find it at all. I open Preferences -> Basic -> Hotkeys and see only Audio delay up, down and Cycle audio track - that's all regarding the audio.
No hotkey tips written in a dropdown Audio -> Audio track. Just a list of audio streams I have.

You want "Cycle audio track" , no? By default, this is "L" on Mac, but you can change to "b", too, if you want.

I'm not sure which other option you might have on Linux or what it shall do instead of "cycling".

No, I want to change the audio track, which is supposed to be on "b" key, but when I press b - nothing happens. On linux it worked, om Mac ot doesnt work for me now.
"Cycle audio track" - it works with L, but it's just loops the current audio track, it's not what I'm looking for.
I'm quite puzzled here. I would appreciate if someone confirms that "b" or something else works on one's mac, and the issue is on my side.

I have no idea what you mean with looping an audio track.

The "L" key is equivalent to the "b" key on Windows and Linux. It switches ("cycles") through the list of available audio tracks. Why we decided for a different key on Mac many years ago, I totally cannot remember.

I have no idea what you mean with looping an audio track.
I mean, when I hit shift+l it shows me on the screen: "loop one", "loop all" or "loop off".
I then randomly hit "l" (without shift) and managed to switch the track - that's what I was looking for.
Not sure but I find the naming like "cycle track" is a little bit misleading, but I won't complain :)

But thank you for the help! The issue was small but really confusing
