Silent Playback *every* time on loop

Ok so I start a song on loop one with 'play in background enabled', minimize the application and listen to something else. When the song finishes it starts again and the app shows it as playing and even shows a timestamp but there's no audio. And there continues to be no audio until I go back into the app and click on the song to entirely restart it.

It's really annoying and it used to only be sporadic but it now happens every single time and I'm not sure what caused it.
