Feature request: custom aspect ratio of video files on iPpad

Postby Tikky » 03 Aug 2024 10:50

I have several video files in 4:3 format (e.g., 960:544) that seem a bit too widescreen. This is particularly noticeable with overly wide faces. For others, this might not be a big problem, but I am sensitive to it, and it bothers me—I just can't get used to it.

In the Windows and Mac versions, it is apparently possible to set the aspect ratio of video files manually. On the iPad, this option doesn't seem to be available (or I can't find it). Would it be possible to make this option accessible on the iPad as well? There's still room for this option in the menu ;)

If possible, I would be very grateful. Either way, thank you very much for offering this great player and for all the hard work behind it!

PS: The above example was probably somewhat misleading. The video appears to have a 16:9 resolution. However, the original, older video had a 4:3 format (old TV recording). The material was probably not encoded optimally. Unfortunately I have this problem with quite a lot of video files.
