Creating Playlists on AndroidTV

I am trying to create a playlist on my Sony Bravia X950G, but in the dialog for "create new playlist / add to existing playlist", I'm not able to get the on-screen keyboard to come up when I focus on the "Playlist Name" field. In contrast, I'm able to type in the Stream uri field, no problem. Am I missing something? Do I need to attach a thumbdrive to initiate playlists?

This is a known issue that will be fixed in the next version.

I am also trying to create a playlist but on the firestick. this is the most frustrating thing as i cant save a playlist. it just doesn't let me create any thing
over a yr ago i was able to do it on both firesticks, and the history was something that would show up. most recent things i was watching,
for the last yr or so, it just stopped adding the most recent things. i have uninstalled and re installed this and have 3.54 version
what must i do to get this working properly

FYI, I was able to enter text by pressing left-arrow while the focus is on the playlist name textbox; it goes to a cursor and then I can press OK to bring up the OSK
