Stil trying to get VLC to open MPG files

Over a number of years I have tried to get VLC (and other aps) to open / play some MPG files, without any success. This is another attempt to find out how to do it. My Tablet PC has Windows 10 installed which plays various videos but not MPG. The MPG files are recorded on a Verbatim SD Card ::

We need the full log, from the very beginning to the very end. Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, keep the messages window open during the whole process and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.
