I have VLC on my iPad, my iPhone, and 7 AppleTVs in two locations seperated by 230km. Since the upgrade to v3.5.3, VLC has frozen and and application kill and restart on all of these devices if I start it on a network with a running SMB server. In the past I'm certain that I was able to use some of these SMB servers because I had usernames and passwords cached to be able to access them. I was able to update the app to 3.5.4 on the AppleTVs but that didn't appear to fix the problem. VLC will hard freeze on my phone if I try to use the "open network stream" panel when connected to my wifi. It works okay if I don't connect my phone to wifi although I haven't tried to watch any video. The iPad behaves the same.
I read a post in a different thread that suggested that the problem was that I have cached credentials to log into an smb server in VLC and that erasing those credentials is the way to make VLC work again. The problem is that when I visit the "Manage Storage" settings in iOS, I can only delete the local copy. In other words, If I delete the VLC data from an Apple TV, then re-download the App, the app retrieves the possibly corrupted data from iCloud and using VLC will cause it to freeze. Finally, I thought that the problem might be SMB servers but I have turned off the SMB servers here and the problem persists?
Can anyone help with this?
