No video file will play since updating to 3.0.20

I don't know what my previous version was but I just updated to 3.0.20 a couple of days ago and now no video files will play whether they are .mp4, .mkv, .avi. In the main window, under 'Duration', all files are shown as 00:00.

I've tried dozens of files - none will play. I can open and play the files with every other media player and converter on my system as well as on two Android devices.

I'm running a 2012 Mac Mini with Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina.

Please reset the preferences of your VLC. You can do that in the Preferences panel accessible through the VLC menu.

I have the same issue. I am running a Macbook Pro (early 2015) with Monterery 12.7.3.
Tried resetting the preferences of my VLC. That didn't do the job.

Any other suggestions?
