VLC not connecting to local network: still not resolved?

Postby StakedPlainExplorer » 18 Nov 2023 02:13

VLC for my iPad and iPhone will not connect to the shared folders on my local Windows network. I just demands the username and password multiple times.

The login info I'm giving it is correct. The Files app and other apps are able to connect. For instance, the PlayerExtreme app can connect and play the videos on my shared folders, which is what I'm trying to get VLC to do.

I've been looking online for a fix to this, but so far no luck. My search results give me the impression that this issue has been around for awhile.

TIA for any assistance.

I think you should try using alternative methods to access your files in VLC, such as transferring them directly to your device or using a different app for network access and then opening the files in VLC. It might help.

That’s what I ended up doing. I accessed the network in the Files app, then accessed the Files app in VLC.

Also, I think you should check the firewall and antivirus settings on your Windows machine. Sometimes, these can block connections from specific apps.
