moving files over to be converted

Postby edit system 1234 » 21 Oct 2022 19:58

Had program up and running to convert my files to be accepted in my editing program.
worked ok.
Next time I went to use VLC the file folder that I added to be converted was empty.
The same file on the desktop will open and video and audio work fine.

When I used it the first time the file that was converted it would show a "film icon" of the shot I took.
Now I'm not sure what I have done to change things.
Now after files are converted an orange safety cone appears and all I get is audio only no video?
Thanks for your advice
Gil

Have you converted your files with VLC ? If so, which kind of files ? From which format to which other one ?

Yes, I have been using VLC.
Converted from mp4 to: MPEG-2+MPGA (TS)
I did have it working before but I've hit something that's changed the settings.
Most of the Codec settings would not allow both audio and video to transfer over except when I used the one above.

In the VLC program when I click on : convert/save the next window asking to "add" file.
Folder comes up I then select the video clip then I hit "browse" then "desktop" ...up comes my folder but when I click on folder it shows "no item match your search".

Reboot, reset the preferences (the manual way) and try again:

Thanks for your response but I'm finding it all too confusing.
I think one of my problems is not knowing how to explain my situation.
The video content of my folders ext. is mp4. When I click on them everything works well (audio an video).
When I'm in the VLC program and follow all the steps and finally push start "conversion" a drop down box comes up: "The output file already exists. If recording continues, the file will be overridden and its content will be lost."

Save the new file to another folder or give it another name.

Changed folder name.
Following the sequence in VLC clicked on "browse" the "save file" page comes up, click on "Desktop" ...."No items match your search."
Hmmm?

Just give your output file a different name.

Not having much success, I have changed both the folder and video file with different names.
