Speakers pop when MacBook is closed

Postby esh314 » 12 Aug 2022 22:58

When I have a video playing in VLC and I close the MacBook lid with my speakers plugged into the headphone jack, the speakers make a loud pop noise about 20-40 seconds after I close the lid (it varies) and again every 15 minutes or so. Pausing the video before closing the MacBook lid doesn't help, but stopping or closing the video fixes the issue. I've tried fiddling with a bunch of VLC settings, and the only thing that seems to help is disabling audio altogether (obviously not a tenable solution). Does anyone know what's happening and how to fix it? Thank you!
